Its been a fast ride here.

This company has been a life to me. Wachter identified me as a strong resource, someone who could grow with the company as we moved into the future. Along this journey I have learned, grown, and built a family around Wachter.

I started as a data technician, then transitioned into the office environment where I learned the other aspects of the business that drive a successful organization like Wachter. This allowed me to progress from Project Coordination to Project Management along with customer-facing roles and responsibilities. That is where I learned Wachter’s true value to our customers as a trusted advisor, and the symbiotic relationship we have with them. We are a team that must work together! My roles evolved into Senior Project Management, and eventually to Business Unit Leadership, where I currently sit as the Charlotte LBU Manager.

Wachter truly is a great company to work for, because you feel like the company is what you make of it! I have seen the organization grow, and a large host of professionals grow along with it—including myself. It is an exciting team to be a part of!

As a member of the Collections Committee, I got to collaborate to come up with ways to decrease AR without adding headcount.

Wachter really is a great company to work for. I’ve gotten to see the entire company grow, and I’ve grown along with it. It’s really exciting, and a great place to be!

Wachter is a unique company in many ways.

They offer a breadth of services unlike any of our competition. And because of those offerings, I was able to advance and expand my professional knowledge within the company and grow as an individual. I started as a temp in 1998… since then I’ve completed a degree in information systems, and earned PMP, CCDA, and CCNP certifications.

I have never been bored at Wachter.

I tell my team there has never been a dull moment since I joined Wachter; that’s one thing I love about working here. There’s always something new and different — even at this stage in my career. I get to experience things I’ve never done before.

I worked for a CPA firm and served as Wachter’s external auditor for 10 years. It’s a great family to work with. When I was hired as the internal auditor, my boss had the confidence I could do whatever she “threw” my way. In the beginning I was not supervising anyone. She eventually assigned the payroll team to me and when she retired, I was promoted to the role of CFO.

As Wachter has grown, so has the accounting staff. When I started full-time in 1999 we had five employees on staff — now we have 20 employees on our team.

At Wachter, we do what we say — at all costs.

I started at 18 through the apprenticeship program. I learned hands-on about the business — in the field you learn to track costs and the P&L of each project. I learned by doing, which has given me a practical approach to running the business!

As a project manager I learned the other side of the coin, in the office. As a manager you learn what to delegate, and what to do yourself, which helped with the next level.

As a VP I was responsible for multiple groups under me, and had a bigger impact on the Wachter culture. Now as the COO I have an even broader touch from a philosophical standpoint.

Wachter provides so many opportunities to learn from experience, from mistakes, from the school of hard knocks. There’s always room to grow your career and your impact — on the company’s financial situation and your own! You can make a good living and still be yourself, be part of a really big family that’s super-supportive. It’s all about how hard you work and how patient you are. Your efforts are constantly being noticed — Wachter is always looking for the next talent.

The key is building relationships — internally and externally — and integrity. Can people trust you? We’re not always perfect, but we’re always honest.

I started with Wachter as a helper in 1998...

...and was promoted to a lead tech within about a year. I was a lead tech for four years, and a project manager for nine. I’d been with Wachter for 10 years when I got the chance to relocate to Arkansas to be a part of Adam Finley’s NSP team. I spent four years there before coming back to Dallas in 2012 to serve as the LBU manager.

Since then, the wonderful team members we employ here have all worked hard to ensure the utmost success and productivity of the Dallas LBU — and I am proud to be a part of the process.

Coming to Wachter was one of the best career moves I ever made.

I started out as a field tech with NSP (Nationwide Service and Projects) in Des Moines. I spent five years there, and I saw turnover and other issues that stemmed from the lack of a process for orientation. I got with a project manager and discussed what I’d seen, and I was able to move into the role of a Field Resource Manager.

In this new position, I managed all of the techs in the field — training, hiring, and evaluating — and served under Tom Allred. I worked that position for seven years, and built relationships across the company.

Because of my strong relationships with HR, I relocated to the corporate office in Lenexa when the Safety Manager position opened up in 2014.

My experience with Wachter has been: if you want a job, we’ll give you a job and a paycheck. If you want a career, this is the place to grow. When I wanted to grow, Wachter didn’t stand in my way.

Wachter has provided a place to grow and advance my career through the years.

Tenure and years with the company have nothing to do with advancement and growth at Wachter, but rather your ability to perform and produce positive results.

If you love or have that entrepreneurial spirit...this is the place for you.

The Wachter family provided me a career, not a job.

I started at Wachter through a temp agency in 2004. I was provided training to work safely, and was given every opportunity to increase my skills base and advance my career.

As a foreman I was placed with an experienced project manager that taught me the ins and outs of the business. He helped me learn the values of good leadership.

As a project manager I learned the financial aspect of the business, and was given the opportunity to pass what I had learned on to others. The most important lesson was learning to be proactive, not reactive.

As a senior project manager. I have the opportunity to help throughout all facets of the business, and to teach others the Wachter way: “Doing what’s right, even if it’s hard.”
