Job Description

Wachter, Inc. is in search of a CAD Designer role to perform the design, planning, and engineering of the network cable infrastructure (structured cabling, pathways, outlets, equipment build-out, etc) within various environments nationwide. This role is customer facing and calls for close attention and critical care.

Job Responsibilites:

    • Prepare drawings and specification documents (RFP) and be responsible for accurate completion of design projects.
    • Perform CAD work and process documentation related to various technology plans and/or record drawings (as-builts) and related work for project submittals.
    • Work with operations team to add value and clarity to scope throughout any part of project life cycle; initiating, planning, executing, close-out and quality assurance.
    • Work in conjunction with other engineers or even customers to visualize, discover and plan technology system solutions using AutoCAD, Visio, Excel, and other tools/techniques.
    • Work with design/CAD team to build compelling visualizations that effectively communicate intent and/or planned solutions and perform other assignments as directed by supervisor.


Knowledge:

    • Understanding of architectural or MEP design and the construction process
    • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, and other designer products
    • Working knowledge of structured cabling networks (either fiber, copper, video surveillance, access control, or intrusion alarm)
    • Ability to manage the process of taking requirements and specifications and effectively translating it and system solutions into drawings, installation notes and index of materials.


Skills:

    • Demonstrates effective verbal/written communication skills.
    • Self-motivated, project focused with effective time management
    • Highly skilled with MS Office, namely Excel spreadsheets, and uses tools/techniques to quickly and efficiently turn results with high quality and volume.
    • Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD 2012+)
    • 1-3 year in Telecommunications or related field.


Experience:

    • Associates degree required. Bachelor’s degree or related experience in industry is preferred.
    • BICSI, RCDD, PMP or FOA Certifications Strongly Desired but not required
